I would like to make a build that outputs its main damage from Cast when Damage Taken. It's just for fun, so don't warn me about efficiency. I was thinking going for Righteous Fire to boost the spell damage considerably. I'll uphold it with the classic Shield+Notable+PoF combo, enough life regen and a Cloak of Defiance to take some of the damage on my mana. I was thinking of putting all of my gear full with these: Cast when Damage Taken - Ethereal Knives - Life Leech (- Empower in 4-links) I will link this at least in 3 different gears. My question: => How do multiple Cast when Damage Taken spells (3 times the same btw) interact with eachother? Will the cooldown prevent the 2 others of triggering, or will they wait their turn and trigger one after another? | Posted by Soepkieken on Feb 25, 2014, 6:40:00 PM |
Instead of Empower use Added fire damage... you'll get alot more from it. 'I'm going to show you pain you never knew existed, you're going to see a whole new spectrum of pain!!!!! Like a RAINBOW!' | Posted by KorgothBG on Feb 25, 2014, 6:46:54 PM |
' Each spell has own damage counter, once each of them reaches 0 the spell will fire. If the same hit caused two or more of the same spells to go off, only one will trigger because of mini-cooldown. So the best strategy would be keeping multiple copies of same spell on differently levelled CwDT gems and try to take damage in as small chunks as possible to avoid big hit triggering more spells at once. If it's different spells - no problem. Есть один путь - наверх! ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/balancedux]► ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/one-vision1]► | Posted by on Feb 25, 2014, 6:54:57 PM |

I would put a very hard hitting skill on cwdt (discharge?, molten shell?). Since a high lvl cwdt will be rather sporadic in a build that is already sporadic. Main damage out put would be better on block with the shield aura (that I can't remember the name of), punishment curse, and maybe thorns if you want to spend some time aquiring gear. The problem is going to be slow mobs, what are you going to do on a map full of zombies? Wait, thats what. Enduring cry will be your best friend for pulling agro. The build is certainly viable but the frustration factor maybe high. Edit: not to pile on but EK won't work well. It doesn't do a lot of damage and benefits greatly from cast speed, which you will lack completely. I don't always post, but when I do I prefer to troll. By the way here take a look at this guide.. it might give you some ideas... it also has a PvE video where you can see why it is NOT a good idea for a PvE build http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/721568 'I'm going to show you pain you never knew existed, you're going to see a whole new spectrum of pain!!!!! ' Taunt on enduring cry kinda doesn't work, the effect is iffy, if it works at all. Not really an issue when playing solo as you're the only target. EK is actually a great choice, the spell does good damage, has low cast speed and high mana cost, making it a prime candidate for trigger gems. If you make a good tank armor will also eat up most of reflected damage making it even safer. Hey all, just had several questions about this, as I have not found one yet. 1) Does it respect cooldowns 2) Does the cast spell cost mana? 3) Can I use copies of the same gem to cast multiple times when damage taken? (ex, 3x fireball) 4) Is the target of the spell always the mob that dealt the damage 5) Is the 'on damage taken' before mitigation, or after? (ie, 400 gross damage, or 400 net damage) 6) Not essential to answer...but can reflect proc this? If the spell does enough damage that reflect procs it, wouldn't that lead to infinite casts until either you or the mob dies? Answers to any of the above are appreciated! Edit - Thanks for the answers so far, but it seems like people don't agree about #1, which is a key for me. If I get cast when damage taken on three different items, linked with enduring cry, will I get it to cast three times, or only once? Sorry, just wanted to make sure If you all are saying that the gems can't be the same(Question 3) Just want you to check this out @@ http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/580583/page/1 From what I had seen, for Molten Shield & Enduring Cry, even though they are multi-casted, they will still remain the same(eg: 10 sec/max amount of endurance charges) Correct me if I'm wrong Last edited by Elprede27 on Nov 6, 2013, 9:39:54 AM | Posted by Elprede27 on Nov 6, 2013, 8:58:01 AM |
' You will cast them at once at the same time when damage threshold reached. Not sure if this is what you mean. http://simple-knowledge-3.blogspot.com/ | Posted by Mikelodeon on Nov 6, 2013, 11:28:42 AM |
Nice questions, I had been asking myself the same things. Another thing I'm going to try this week that I'm not entirely sure that works is: Getting 2 Enduring Cry and using one linked to CODT and one independent from that so I can spam it. Anyone knows if it works? Oblivion Guild: http://tinyurl.com/OblivionGuildPoe Current IGNs: Biroso and Absimiliards | Posted by Biroso on Nov 6, 2013, 12:53:20 PM |
1)no 2) no 3) no 4) who deal dmg 5) befor(check molten shell desr and different lvl) 6) when you getting dmg via reflect it procs ' yes ofc(didnt played really for a long time but cold snap traps and other stuff was able to abuse like this so im sure there different cd and spell) also that ppl doesnt notice really all hits have right now a 0.35 sec delay same as your ST cant hit one target in one time you cant make a loop with dmg taken( or any other autocast) RIP English :D GMT +4 | Posted by on Nov 6, 2013, 2:35:16 PM |
' I really want you to check this out http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/580583 Look at his videos and his gem-linkings, I'hv tried it on my own too, although its kinda hard to see with EK, but, placing multiple same gems is available Last edited by Elprede27 on Nov 8, 2013, 6:14:51 PM | Posted by Elprede27 on Nov 8, 2013, 6:14:38 PM |
Hi Guys, sorry when this is a necro, but I found that thread via google, and it still does not answer my questions completely, so I thought I just add this here. :) so as far as I understand it (also according the wiki), it cannot spam spells which have a cooldown, and more importantly, if the spell is on cooldown, it does not count towards the threshold: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Cast_when_Damage_Taken Cooldown: Cast when Damage Taken has a cooldown of 250ms, or the linked skill's cooldown, whichever is longer. Each linked spell has its own cooldown and internal damage counter. The damage counter will not increase while the spell is cooling down. I was surprised the answers here in this thread were different... so, I take 440 dmg (at gem lvl 1), for example enduring cry (4 sec cd) triggers, now I continue to take damage (maybe some additional spells trigger, because every spell has its own counter), but the counter is 'on hold', enduring cry CD finishes, and from now on I have to take another 440 damage so it triggers again. 1) am I correct with that? the next thing is: I use blood magic gem for my main spell, and that spell costs 42 health because of that. now I took 400 damage, and then I use that spell. 2) does cast when damage taken now trigger my linked spell, or do I still need to take that remaining 40 damage through mobs actually damaging me? 2.1) how about blood rage? I take 4% of my life as chaos damage per second because of that. I have 3600 hp, this is 144 damage per second. does this count towards the cast when damage taken damage counter? Or is it - again - only damage taken from mobs? 3) I run two auras combined with reduced mana (grace & hatred), and my remaining mana is I believe 58. Do spells cast by cast when damage taken cost mana? If not (which most people, also in this thread here state), does the fact that if a spell would cost more mana than I have left (for example, my warlord's mark, which would cost 66) has any effect on that? such as, well it would not cost mana because of the trigger gem, but in theory it would not be able to be cast (not enough mana), so the trigger gem can't cast it either? Thanks for any feedback on this :) Last edited by deadmanwalkin on Jan 8, 2014, 9:19:59 AM | Posted by on Jan 8, 2014, 9:18:10 AM |
